Sportswear Printing - Creative Design and Print

Sportswear Printing

Screen printed sportswear for teams, clubs and fitness businesses with prints that flex and last.

Sportswear printing is a different game from printing on a cotton tee. The fabrics stretch, they wick moisture, they get washed constantly. You need prints that can handle all of that without cracking or fading. That's what we focus on at our Henderson sportswear printing workshop for Auckland teams, clubs, gyms and fitness brands. Have a look at our complete screen printing options to see the full range of garments we work with.

What is Sportswear Printing?

Here's the challenge with performance fabrics. Polyester reacts differently to ink than cotton. Stretchy blends need flexible prints. Moisture-wicking treatments can interfere with adhesion if you don't know what you're doing. We've worked through all of these issues and know which techniques bond properly with sports fabrics.

What we cover:

  • Sport-specific consultation (because rugby and running have very different needs)
  • Performance fabric selection
  • Design optimisation for movement (prints that flex where athletes flex)
  • Printing method selection, screen printing or sublimation depending on fabric
  • Sample production for fit testing
  • Team orders with individual personalisation
  • Quality checks for active-use durability

Personalised team orders with multiple sizes and player details? We handle the complexity.

Auckland clubs, gym owners and event organisers come to us for sportswear printing because our prints hold up through real athletic use, not just a couple of gentle washes. For sideline and presentation wear, you might also want to look at embroidered athletic apparel.

Our Process

Our Sportswear Printing Process

01

Understanding Your Sport

A rugby jersey and a running singlet are totally different jobs. We start by understanding the sport, the conditions and what you need the gear to do.

02

Performance Fabric Selection

Not all sportswear fabrics print the same way. We help you choose materials that balance moisture management, stretch, durability and comfort for your specific activity.

03

Design Optimisation

Bold graphics, player numbers, sponsor logos. We prep artwork with movement in mind, placing prints where they'll flex naturally rather than crack at stress points.

04

Printing Method Selection

Screen printing handles most athletic garments well. Sublimation is the go-to for polyester when you want vibrant, permanent graphics. We'll recommend the right fit for your job.

05

Sample Production

Players test the actual garment before you commit to the full order. For sportswear, this matters more than most products because fit during movement is everything.

06

Team Production

Once approved, your order goes into production. We pay close attention to print adhesion on technical fabrics and monitor colour consistency across the entire run.

07

Quality Verification

We check curing (critical for durability on synthetics), colour accuracy against your specs, and overall garment quality before anything ships.

Why Choose Us

Why Choose Creative Design and Print for Sportswear Printing?

Technical Fabric Expertise

Moisture-wicking treatments affect ink adhesion. Stretchy fabrics need flexible prints. Synthetic materials require lower curing temps. We know all of this and adjust accordingly.

Prints That Flex and Last

Our inks and techniques are chosen specifically for athletic use. The prints flex when the fabric stretches and survive the frequent washing that sport demands.

Team Colour Matching

Your club colours are your identity. We match them precisely so new sportswear sits alongside existing gear without any visible difference.

Personalised Team Orders

Different sizes, individual names, unique numbers. We track every detail across your squad so nothing gets mixed up in production.

Reorder Capability

Specs stay on file. Next season, or when a new player joins, reordering is simple because we already have everything set up.

Sublimation Options

For polyester gear, sublimation dyes the fabric itself. The result is vibrant colour that can't crack or peel because it's literally part of the material.

Personalisation Costs

Names and numbers are per-garment additions. We'll include that in your quote so there are no surprises.

Method Selection

Frequently Asked Questions - Sportswear Printing

Sublimation is usually the best call for polyester moisture-wicking gear. The print becomes part of the fabric, so it doesn't block breathability or moisture management at all. Screen printing can work too with specialty inks formulated for synthetics. We'll look at your garments and recommend the right approach.
You need flexible inks and the right curing method. Standard printing will crack on stretchy fabric. We use techniques built for athletic wear that move with the material. For compression gear or anything with serious stretch, sublimation is the winner because the print is part of the fabric itself.
That depends on the fabric. Plastisol is durable on cotton blends. Water-based inks give a softer feel. Sublimation dyes only work on polyester but produce the best colour and durability for performance wear. We match the ink to your specific garment.
Yes. Send us your roster (name, number, size for each player) and we'll produce personalised garments while keeping the overall team look consistent. It's what we do for clubs every season.
Cold water, inside out, skip the fabric softener. Softener interferes with both the moisture-wicking properties and the print. Tumble dry on low or hang dry. And don't iron over the print. Pretty simple.
No. Sublimation only works on white or very light polyester. The process dyes the fibres rather than sitting ink on top, so a dark garment will show through and alter your colours. For dark sportswear, screen printing is the way to go.
Biz Collection, JB's Wear and AS Colour all have solid sports ranges that take print well. If you need something more specialised for a particular sport, we can source from performance-focused suppliers too.
