Graphic Design - Creative Design and Print

Graphic Design

Graphic design for Auckland businesses: logos, brand identity, brochure layouts, and print-ready artwork built in CMYK from day one.

Here's what we've learned running a graphic design Auckland studio out of Henderson for years: the design matters more than the paper, the ink, or the finishing. You can pick the thickest card stock on the shelf, but if the layout's weak, people bin it. Our Henderson studio builds artwork that's meant for the press from the first draft, and that difference shows up the moment you hold the finished piece.

What is Graphic Design?

Print design Auckland isn't the same as web design, and that trips up a lot of people. What looks sharp on your laptop can come out muddy, pixelated, or just... off when it hits paper. We think about bleed, CMYK colour shift, paper texture, and fold lines before we even open InDesign. That's the bit most freelance designers skip. And it's the bit that wrecks your print run. Check our print production capabilities to see what formats we can push your designs into.

What do we actually design? Quite a lot:

  • Logo design, vector-built so it scales from a pen to a billboard
  • Brand identity that carries across print, signage, and digital
  • Brochure layouts structured around how people actually read folded panels
  • Business stationery (letterheads, compliment slips, the works)
  • Packaging design, your product's first impression at shelf level
  • Marketing collateral from event banners to leave-behind folders

Every piece we design is built for the press. CMYK from the start, correct bleeds, fonts outlined. No last-minute file drama.

We've designed first logos for tradies working out of a garage and rebranded companies with 50 staff. The brief changes, but the standard doesn't. If your brand needs to live beyond paper, our designers also create artwork for custom embroidered uniforms and corporate identity packages that tie everything together.

When You Need Us

When You Need Graphic Design

1

New Business Launch

Logo, stationery, business cards, maybe a flyer or two. You're starting from scratch and everything needs to look like it belongs together. We build the visual foundation so every piece you add later fits.

2

Rebranding Initiative

Your business has grown past its original look, but you can't just scrap everything overnight. We help you evolve the brand so existing customers still recognise you while new ones see a company that's moving forward.

3

Marketing Campaign Development

Got a campaign that needs to run across flyers, banners, social tiles, and maybe a brochure? We design the core concept once and adapt it to every format so the whole thing feels connected.

4

Print Material Creation

You know your message. You just need someone who can lay it out so people actually read it. Proper hierarchy, clean type, and a layout that works on paper, not just on screen.

5

Logo Refinement

Maybe your logo was designed in 2009 and the only file you've got is a 200px JPEG from your website. We redraw it as a proper vector so it works on a business card or a 3-metre banner.

6

Template Development

If your team produces newsletters, menus, or spec sheets regularly, we'll build editable templates they can update themselves. Brand standards stay intact without needing a designer every time.

7

File Preparation

You've got artwork but it won't print properly. Wrong colour mode, no bleed, low-res images. We sort it out and get your files press-ready.

8

Presentation Design

A Word doc with clip art isn't going to win a contract. We take proposals, reports, and pitch decks and make them look like someone actually cared about the details.

9

Packaging Design

Your packaging has about two seconds to get picked up off the shelf. We design for that moment: clear branding, readable text, and structure that works on the actual die-line.

10

Menu and Programme Design

Hospitality and events throw a lot of information at people. We organise it so it's scannable, attractive, and actually helps someone make a decision, not just fill a page.

Our Process

Our Graphic Design Process

01

Discovery and Briefing

We ask a lot of questions upfront. Who's this for? What do you want them to do? Got existing brand guidelines or are we starting fresh? The more we understand here, the less back-and-forth later.

02

Concept Development

We come back with a few different directions, not just colour variations of the same idea, but genuinely different approaches to your brief. You pick the one that clicks.

03

Design Refinement

Once you've chosen a direction, we refine it. Two rounds of feedback, tweaking layout, type, colour, and imagery until it's right. Most projects land in two rounds. Some need three.

04

Print Optimisation

This is where our print background really matters. We convert to CMYK, verify image resolution at final size, set up bleeds, and spec the file for whatever output method you're using: offset, digital, or large format.

05

File Delivery

You get print-ready PDFs plus editable source files. Everything's packaged with fonts and linked images so you (or another printer down the track) can work with them.

Why Choose Us

Why Choose Creative Design and Print for Graphic Design?

Design-to-Press Continuity

Because we're a print shop, your artwork walks straight from design into production. No re-exporting, no colour profile mismatches, no surprises. Bleeds and trapping? Built in from concept one.

Brand System Development

A logo on its own isn't a brand. We build the full system (stationery, signage, marketing collateral) so everything your customer touches looks like it came from the same business.

CMYK-Native Artwork

We design in CMYK from the start. Not RGB-then-convert-and-hope. That's how you end up with a bright orange logo on screen and a brownish one on paper. We skip that whole problem.

Production Problem Prevention

Thin hairline fonts that disappear on press. Images at 72dpi. Tight registration on a four-colour job. We catch all of it during design, not after you've paid for a print run.

Iterative Concept Refinement

We don't just show you one idea and call it done. You get multiple directions, pick the strongest, then we refine through structured feedback rounds until you're happy with it.

Reusable Template Creation

Need to update your menu every season? Or send a monthly newsletter? We'll build templates your team can edit without breaking the layout or the brand.

Graphic Design Pricing

Every graphic design project is different, and a logo redraw isn't the same scope as a 20-page catalogue layout. We quote based on what's actually involved.

Project-Based Quoting

We'll outline exactly what's included: how many concepts, how many revision rounds, what files you get at the end. No guessing.

No Hidden Costs

Concepts, revisions, and file prep are all in the quote. If you want to add something outside the original scope, we'll tell you before we start on it.

Print Bundle Discounts

Getting design and printing done under one roof usually works out better than splitting it across two suppliers. Ask us about bundled projects.

Hourly Options Available

Just need a quick tweak to an existing file? Or ongoing design support without committing to a full project? Hourly works well for that.

Frequently Asked Questions - Graphic Design

High-resolution PDF is the standard. Fonts need to be embedded or outlined, images should be CMYK at 300dpi, and you need 3mm bleed on all edges. If that sounds like another language, just send us what you've got and we'll sort the file prep.
For photos, you need 300dpi at the size it'll actually print. A 300dpi image that's 5cm wide won't look great blown up to A3. Vector graphics like logos don't have this problem because they scale infinitely. But that 150dpi photo from your website? It'll look fuzzy on paper.
Usually, yes. Bring us whatever you've got: a business card, a screenshot, a fridge magnet. We redraw it as a vector in Illustrator so it's clean and scalable for anything going forward. Some logos are more complex than others, but most are straightforward to recreate.
Depends on the project. Your own photos of your actual work, team, and premises always make the strongest impression. But if you don't have those, we source licensed stock that fits your brand. We'll tell you honestly which option makes more sense for what you're producing.
Big differences. Print uses CMYK colour, and what you see on an RGB screen won't match what comes off the press. Images need to be higher resolution. Layouts are fixed (no responsive resizing), and you have to think about physical stuff like fold positions, binding margins, and paper grain direction. It's a different discipline.
Two rounds after the initial concepts. That's enough to refine your chosen direction without the project dragging on. If you need a third round, we can do that, and we'll just let you know the additional scope upfront.
